About

I am a nursing student in Springfield, Missouri. I live with my super awesome, slightly hipster, gonna-change-the-world roommate, Julia, in a cute little yellow house. I have an amazing boyfriend of 5 1/2 years, Alex, who I'm sure you will hear quite a bit about. I love telling stories, and I love having people confide in me. I have a slight coffee addiction, and I am a little too obsessed with Netflix and TV series. I love to smile, and laugh, and adventure.

Most importantly, I love life. I love beauty. I love the simple things that bring joy. In the whirlwind we call life, the most beautiful things often get overlooked. That is the purpose of this blog. To reflect on the beauty of life. It is about exploring the dichotomies of this world: the mundane and the extraordinary, the simple and the complex, the reality and the desired. I am here to point out the simple things. I am here to express what I've learned about life and love, despite my insignificance in this vast world.

Selah, the inspiration for this blog, was pointed out to me by a leader in my church. Selah is written 74 times in the bible--71 times in Psalms, and 3 times in Habakkuk. It is a liturgico-musical mark that indicates something along the lines of "stop and listen" or "pause, and think of that". It is a commandment to be still. It is often used to place importance on the words to come, to act as an emphasis to pay attention. It implies an instruction to measure carefully and reflect upon what was just written.

This is beautiful to me. I feel like my generation so often fails to see beauty in simplicity. It is my desire that by writing this blog I will be forced to pause and find the beauty that God has placed in my life. I hope to impart wisdom that I've learned, mistakes I've made, and even the silly things that might bring a smile to your face. I hope that despite the chaos and pain in this world, I may inspire you to find the beauty in your own life.

Thanks for joining me in this adventure!
